Pitt Contacts Ball State Transfer Payton Sparks for Second-Straight Year in Portal

Published

on

As the transfer portal heats up, the Pitt basketball staff continues to reach out to prospects from all over.

The most recent prospect to hear from Pitt is Payton Sparks, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward from Winchester, Indiana.

Sparks played two seasons for Ball State, averaging near identical numbers in each season. As a freshman, he posted averages of 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, while shooting 53.3% from the field. This season, as a sophomore, he averaged 13.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Cardinals, while increasing his shooting percentage to 58.8%. Sparks has only attempted 12 threes in his college career, making two of his five attempts this year.

Sparks also entered the portal last offseason, but eventually decided to return to Ball State. He also heard from the Panthers last year, almost one year to the date of hearing from the staff once again.

The Panthers have now reached out to several prospects in the portal this week. Check out the Panthers’ portal guide below to see the other contacts.

Payton would be a great addition to the front line to battle players like Bacot from NCar for rebounds & points around the basket.. GO PITT…ACC CHAMPIONSHIP & NCAA’s still the goal!
