Since the conclusion of the 2022-23 season Sunday following a Second Round exit in the NCAA Tournament, Pitt has continuously reached out to players in the transfer portal who could help the Panthers be back in the big dance a year from now.
Basketball insider Adam Zagoria reported Wednesday that Harvard transfer guard/forward Chris Ledlum has heard from many schools, including Pitt. Indiana, Michigan State, Tennessee, Xavier, Gonzaga, Wake Forest, Maryland, and Virginia were included as teams looking into Ledlum. He had two years of eligibility remaining.
He was unanimously named First Team All-Ivy League this season after ranking 51st in the NCAA in scoring (18.8 ppg) and posted an average of 8.5 rebounds along with 50 total steals and 31 blocks in 28 games, shooting 47% from the field. In three seasons at Harvard, Ledlum posted averages of 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds in 24.7 minutes. He also recorded 82 steals and 55 blocks.
A 6-foot-6 senior whose season was canceled in 2020-21 due to COVID-19, Ledlum significantly improved his game and scored a season-high 35 points against Cornell on Feb. 18. The Brooklyn, New York native averaged 18.1 points over the last two seasons after only posting a 7.3 mark his freshman season, averaging 16 minutes in 29 games.
Pitt has now contacted at least seven players in the transfer portal.
