Key Pitt Assistant Karlo Zovko Pens Goodbye On Twitter

Pitt will have to replace a key recruiter, one of its biggest behind-the-scenes staffers, ahead of the 2023 season.

Karlo Zovko, Pitt’s assistant director of player personnel since 2019, penned a goodbye to Pitt — and football — on Twitter Friday night.

“Thank you to the game of football and thank you to Pitt,” Zovko wrote on Twitter. “I will miss you both greatly. Memories that will last a lifetime with people as close as family Hail to Pitt forever! H2P.”

Zovko has been around Pittsburgh his entire life, graduating from Pittsburgh Central Catholic in 2012 before attending Duquense — graduating with a business degree in 2016.

He joined Pitt’s staff in 2017, serving as a recruiting assistant for a couple of seasons before being elevated to assistant director of player personnel. And his loss will be especially felt around the WPIAL.

Zovko was instrumental in the WPIAL, building bonds with countless recruits from the Pittsburgh area over the last half decade. And Zovko has been a key closer as Pitt hosted official visitors — helping to lock down a number of important recruits over the last few years. Just off the top of the head, SirVocea Dennis, Julian Dugger and Cameron Lindsey held strong relationships with Zovko.

It remains to be seen what Zovko will be doing going forward, but it appears that he has sights set on a life outside of football in the future.

Graham Wilbert currently serves as Pitt’s director of player personnel, with Adam Caltury serving as the director of recruiting, and Alex Kline is entering his second season as assistant director of player personnel.
