On Wednesday, the Pitt basketball team took the floor for the first time as a unit ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Although there was no stream for the game, Pitt provided updates via social media about the game.
The Panthers won the contest 86-80, with players such as Zack Austin, Blake Hinson, and Ishmael Leggett shining, among others. Austin threw down two highlight slams in the win, which can be found here.
The first update given by Pitt came with 6+ minutes to go in the second quarter. Hinson and Leggett got off to strong starts for the Panthers. According to the photos shared by Pitt, Hinson, Leggett, Papa Amadou Kante, Dior Johnson, Marlon Barnes, and Will Jeffress earned early playing time.
At the half, Tenerife led 44-41, according to Pitt. Hinson has now hit four of his seven field-goal tries and is up to 16 points. Guillermo Diaz-Graham has seven points, three rebounds, one block, and one steal through one half of play so far.
In the third quarter, Pitt took the lead 55-54 on the first monster slam dunk by Austin.

Then, Pitt pulled away later in the quarter, as Austin continued his dominance. Austin made his way up to 13 points and threw down this second slam off the backboard lob from Johnson.
