Pitt Football Receives Mediocre Week 0 Ranking from The Athletic

Pitt football is coming off two seasons ranked in the top 25 for the first time in over 40 years and a total of 20 wins.

Coming into this season, they Panthers have not received many plaudits from the national media and The Athletic chose to give them a mediocre ranking with the start of Week 0. Out of the 133 college football teams in the Division I FBS, Chris Vanini awarded the Panthers a No. 59 ranking.

Vanini placed seven teams in the ACC ahead of Pitt in the rankings in Florida State (No. 8), Clemson (No. 11) North Carolina (No. 20), Duke (No. 31), NC State (No. 38), Louisville (No. 39) and Wake Forest (No. 58). Long-standing rival Notre Dame (No. 19) also ranks ahead of Pitt and the two teams will face off in South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 28.

Pitt does rank ahead of teams it plays in Miami (No. 60) rivals Syracuse (No. 64), Cincinnati (No.67) and West Virginia (No. 83) and Boston College (No. 82).

Vanini didn’t write anything on why he ranked Pitt football that low, either. So, it is unknown why he picked a team that has been one of the best in the ACC the past two seasons around the middle of the country.

The Athletic is a trash rag. The guy who put the rankings together and the article is clueless.

The Athletic is a poorly written social justice platform. Most of their articles are thrown together like a college sophomore writing a term paper on a Sunday night.

Vannini’s own mother hates him. She said “he’s must biggest regret. I wish he died at birth.” I read it on TMZ. I wouldn’t put too much stock into his comments. And by republishing his stupidity, you cast a bad light on the program.

Please tell us what this guy has accomplished in the past that proves that his predictions or analysis are any better than even the average sports buff?? It’s such a joke that anybody hands over their hard-earned money to self-proclaimed experts that have earned zero credibility.
