Twitter Reaction to Pitt’s Embarrassing Loss to WVU

It’s hard to believe but the Pitt Panthers, especially the offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti and Pat Narduzzi were worse than they were a week ago against Cincinnati.

In a game plan intended the protect Phil Jurkovec, Pitt did nothing offensive and were embarrassed in the Backyard Brawl, 17-6.

The heat will rise this week on Narduzzi, Cignetti and Jurkovec.

My argument for Pitt this offseason was the ceiling was iffy, but there was a high floor. Jurkovec was a good fit, he’d be protected better, and they had an identity.

I was wrong about every part of that.

Said it last week and I’ll say it again. One of the reasons this marriage was supposed to work is because it was supposed to be a reunion for Jurkovec and Cignetti. He’s supposed to know the offense. It really looks like he got the playbook 5 mins ago.

Everything about this Pitt team is putrid tonight. Most especially the coaching, the game planning, the O line play, the quarterback decisions, the receivers, etc. etc.

WVU’s average started field position is their own 42.

They’ve scored 10 of their points by starting drives on the Pitt 7 and Pitt 30 yard lines.

One real drive for a TD starting at their own 39.

Defense played well. The offense put them in awful spots all night.

Duquesne scored more points against West Virginia in the first quarter than Pitt has in the entire Backyard Brawl.
Are the Panthers underachieving, or has Pat Narduzzi just gotten thoroughly outcoached by, of all people, Neal Brown?

Jurkovec is not even in the top three issues on this Pitt offense – the offensive line is pourous, the receivers can’t catch and Frank Cignetti is calling plays like this the 1950s. I get it Jurkovec needs to be better but this is a total meltdown on offense
