Some surprising recruiting news this morning from one of the WPIAL’s top players.

Aliquippa 2025 4-star running back Tiqwai Hayes announced on Twitter that he intends to close down his recruitment and make an upcoming college decision.

Hayes intends to announce his commitment on September 25th at Aliquippa High School at 3:30 PM. Hayes will be choosing from the following schools: Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Maryland and Michigan State.

Hayes is ranked by Rivals.com as one of the Top 200 overall players in the Class of 2025 as well as one of the Top 20 running backs in the country.

No national recruiting analysts have named a school as the leader for Hayes, but his most recent unofficial visits were to Penn State on September 2 and then to Pitt on September 9th.

For a while, Michigan was rumored to be the front runner for Hayes, but Penn State is the school that’s reportedly really high on his list.

Pitt has already received a commitment from Aliquippa 2024 4-star linebacker Cam Lindsey and would love to add his teammate to be their running back of the future, but it won’t be easy.

Keep in mind, Hayes is only a junior so regardless of who he commits to, it won’t stop schools from trying to get him to change his mind up until Signing Day in December of 2024.

The pay is definitely better at Franklin incorporated. If he has NFL aspirations, Pitt is clearly the better choice. He will start much earlier at Pitt. Ohio state and Michigan dominate psu every season, so I don’t get why he would choose psu over them.

Wow, so much wrong with your statement I don’t know where to begin.
Dominate? Have you watched the PSU/OSU games the last 5 years.
He will go there to:
Play with 5* quarterbacks
Play in front of 110k fans every week
Great coaching staff
Go to the Playoffs and then the NFL
Should I continue?

I see more NFL players from PSU than from Pitt so not sure why you call Pitt the better Choice for NFL opportunities.

He could be the next dominant, feature back at Pitt. Jurkovic will be gone, so that will no longer be an issue.

He may be a 4 star now but this time next year will be a 5 and a top 50 in the country , probably. So I think he is heading to State College OR Columbus , OHIO.
