Mt. Lebanon had a fantastic 2021 season, winning both the WPIAL and PIAA Class 6A Titles en route to a perfect 15-0 season. Two former players have been playing well for Navy and contributed a touchdown each in a win on Saturday.

Sophomores in slotback Eli Heidenreich and fullback Alex Tecza both scored a touchdown in the 14-0 win for Navy over Charlotte Saturday afternoon on the road. The win for Navy puts them up to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the American Athletic Conference.

Heidenreich scored the first touchdown off the game, catching a pass from freshman quarterback Braxton Woodson in the middle of the field and then after finding space, running all the way for the 69-yard score with 12:30 left in the first half.

Heidenreich is now at four catches this season and also caught a 68-yard touchdown in a 44-30 loss to South Florida on the road in Week 5.

He plays at slotback, which is the position between offensive tackle and wide receiver, working as an extra wide receiver, but also the blocking off a tight end and the rushing ability of a running back. He has 14 rushes for 99 yards and a touchdown this season, and had three carries for 14 yards in the win over the 49ers.

Heidenreich had a fantastic 2021 season for Mt. Lebanon en route to that State title. He caught 54 passes for 1,350 yards and 20 touchdowns, while rushing 60 times for 647 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tecza would score the other touchdown, receiving a handoff and some great blocking to allow him to get into space and then used his speed to go 62-yards for the score to double the lead with 11:02 left in the fourth quarter.

He leads Navy with 503 yards on the season on 62 carries, averaging 8.1 yards per carry. His best game of the season came in a loss to Memphis on the road in Week 3, as he ran 15 times for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Tecza excelled in former Mt. Lebanon head coach Bob Palko’s high-powered offense, rushing 258 times for 2,067 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also worked well as a receiver, catching 27 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns.
