Best Bets For 11/18: WVU vs. Cincinnati, Big 10 and SEC Games

Published

on

Another night. Another 2-1 finish. Pitt was able to get us one of the easiest covers (-14.5) you will have as they demolished Jacksonville by 51 points. The Kings cover was not so easy.

Sacramento battled tooth and nail with the Spurs for a majority but a basket in the final seconds gave the Kings a 9-point win, covering -8.5. As for Colorado, they were completely laughed out of Pullman. An embarrassing performance by Coach Prime’s squad.

Though I will only give 3 picks for this college football Saturday, there are a few games I like but don’t absolutely love another to make them locks. Michigan and Ohio State should both cover in each of their matchups before their collision next week in Ann Arbor. Georgia should cover as well. The team that faces Georgia next week, Georgia Tech, should wreck Syracuse and their one-dimensional offense.

As for underdogs, take a look at Temple, UNLV and Utah State.

Now onto the picks.

Cincinnati at West Virginia (-5) 2:30pm on ESPN+

The Mountaineers were absolutely boat raced by Oklahoma in Norman last Saturday night. The Sooners jumped on WVU from the start and didn’t let him in the 39-point blowout. Luckily for the Mountaineers, they face a Bearcats team Saturday afternoon that hasn’t been jumping out on anyone.

The Bearcats finally got their first Big 12-win last weekend on the road in Houston following a two-point loss to UCF at home the previous week. Cincinnati has only played well in conference play versus teams that came with them from the AAC. In games against previous Big 12 and on the road at BYU, the Bearcats have been completely outclassed by their opponents.

On Senior Day in Morgantown, I believe Neal Brown takes another step in solidifying his future as coach of the Mountaineers. Garrett Greene plays a balance game while CJ Donaldson will run wild.

West Virginia Covers -5, West Virginia 27 Cincinnati 17

Nebraska at Wisconsin (-6) 7:30pm on NBC

Nebraska vs Wisconsin pits two historically proud football programs. The 2023 matchups showcase two teams trending in opposite directions with new head coaches.

Wisconsin has shown growing pains in Luke Fickell’s first year in Madison as the Badgers transition to a new offense has hit rock bottom in recent weeks. They scored only 10 points in their loss last week to Northwestern and their leading rusher last week only had 47 yards, which was Penn Trafford’s Cade Yacamelli.

Despite losing a turnover filled game to Maryland last week, Matt Rhule has Nebraska trending in the right direction. Since losing 45-7 to Michigan on September 30th, the Cornhuskers have allowed less than 20 points in 4 of their last 5 games. The Black Shirt defense has finally returned to Lincoln.

One stat that needs to be mentioned is Matt Rhule’s ATS record as a road underdog. In his time at Temple, Baylor and now Nebraska, Rhule is 20-9 ATS including 2-1 this year with covers against Minnesota and Illinois. That is a 69% cover rate, which is very nice.

In a matchup of 5-5 teams fighting for a bowl big, I believe Matt Rhule’s squad keeps it closes and maybe even wins outright.

Nebraska covers +6, Wisconsin 17 Nebraska 14

Georgia St at LSU (-32) 8:00pm on ESPN 2

This bet on LSU has to do with one man and one man only: Jayden Daniels. The transfer QB from Arizona State has had a hell of a season in Baton Rouge and is now making a late push for the Heisman.

Though I do not have skin in the game for Daniels to win the Heisman (I wish I did), I believe Lee Miles and LSU are in full speed ahead to try and get Daniels the Heisman Trophy with the SEC West no longer in reach. You can expect the Tigers to try and pour on points early and often Saturday night, and it should be no problem vs Georgia St.

In their last three games (all losses), the Panthers have given up 40+ points in each game (44-27 Georgia Southern, 42-14 James Madison, 42-14 Appalachian St). If LSU can score 52 points against Florida, Georgia St will be in for a long night especially given the circumstances surrounding Daniels. We will just need the Tiger defense to get some stops.

LSU covers -32, LSU 63 Georgia St 21
