Friday’s Best BetMGM Bets: Houston-Xavier, New Mexico St-Liberty, Oregon-Washington

Published

on

We had another great night with our picks, going 2-1 with only the Cowboys letting us know while the Penguins and Creighton Blue Jays helped up our overall record to 23-20.

Before we get to today’s picks, I want to look onto what has been a very tight NFL MVP race. As it stands currently, Jalen Hurts (+150) is the favorite followed by Patrick Mahomes (+380), Lamar Jackson (+450) and Dak Prescott (+475). To be fully transparent, I have a very small future on Dak Prescott to win MVP at 25/1 to win $125. This was with a $5 free bet, which I love using on different long odds future bets.

As it stands right now, Hurts and Prescott are playing the best football of this group right now. Mahomes could win it but his wide receivers keep letting him down. Jackson without Mark Andrews will put him behind the 8 ball as well.

But for my money, I think Prescott will end up taking the MVP home. Dak has 23 total touchdowns to only 2 picks in his last 7 games. Hurts has also been banged up a bit by a knee injury. The Eagles/Cowboys matchup next weekend could decide this MVP race.

Now onto the picks!

Houston Cougars (-8.5) at Xavier Musketeers O/U 138.5 6:30 PM on FSI

We head back to Cincinnati for another Xavier game as the Musketeers host a very good Houston Cougars team in the Big East-Big 12 Battle. We were able to cover (and win outright) with Oakland when they faced Xavier Monday night.

As I stated earlier in one of these blogs, Houston is my team to beat in the NCAA Tournament. They are a great defensive team that can lock anyone down. Currently, they are holding opponents under 50 points a game, an incredible stat for this era of college basketball.

What I am targeting in this game is the Under. I believe the Cougars defense will be able to limit Xavier and the first true road game for Houston will limit their scoring.

Under 138.5 Covers, Houston Cougars 70 Xavier Musketeers 58

New Mexico St at Liberty (-10.5) O/U 57 Conference USA Championship 7:00 PM on CBSSN

Once one of the laughing stock programs in college football, New Mexico St has been a resurgence over the past 2 seasons. This has been in the most part due to former Minnesota coach Jerry Kill, who led the Aggies to their first bowl win since 2017 last year.

The Aggies already lost to Liberty this season by 16 points. The line that day was very similar to this one, but we have a different Aggies team than the one the Flames played in September. New Mexico St is 11-2 ATS this year including 6-1 as an underdog and on the road. Liberty is 8-4 ATS in 2023. Both teams are in their first season in Conference USA after being independent the last handful of years

I know Liberty is undefeated and has looked great over the past month, but I believe the Aggies can keep this game within a touchdown and put a scare into the Flames.

New Mexico St Covers +10.5, New Mexico St Aggies 24 Liberty Flames 31

Oregon Ducks (-9) at Washington Huskies O/U 65 PAC12 Championship 9:00 PM on ABC

The last PAC12 title game for the PAC12 that we all know and love. Both Oregon and Washington will move to the Big Ten next year along with UCLA and USC in one of the biggest exoduses in college sports history.

Hopefully we get a great game like we did back in October between these two in the last football game of the Conference of Champions for the near future. Oregon has been bludgeoning opponents since losing to Washington. The Huskies, on the other hand, have been just sneaking by to remain undefeated in this game.

For my money, Washington has a lot of TCU from 2022 in them. They just find a way to win, and it is definitely not pretty how they do it. If the Ducks get hot, this could turn into other bludgeoning really quickly. I think Washington has enough on offense to keep this game at least within a touchdown, maybe even win outright.

Washington Covers +9, Oregon Ducks 34 Washington Huskies 30
