Championship Saturday’s Best FanDuel Bets: Boise St-UNLV, Georgia-Alabama, Michigan-Iowa

Published

on

We had another excellent 2-1 night, upping our record to 25-21 on the season. The Under was easily able to cover in Houston/Xavier while Washington beat Oregon outright in the last PAC12 Title game for the foreseeable future, covering the +9 in the process. New Mexico could not keep pace with undefeated Liberty, losing by 14.

Today we have an action backed day of conference championship games. On Wednesday when I went over the playoff odds, Ohio St took another step to sneaking in with Washington beating Oregon. So there is one spot left with 4 teams competing for it: Florida St, Texas, Alabama and as mentioned Ohio St.

While I am only giving out three picks for today’s championship game, there are some leans I like today. In the noon window of games, I like Miami and Oklahoma St to cover in their matchups. I would consider them live dogs too. I feel less good about Oklahoma St given the actions of a frat in Stillwater involving a real life longhorn.

I also like Louisville as a live underdog tonight. I believe their loss to Kentucky last weekend was due to looking ahead and they will limit the Seminoles offense tonight. Another underdog that can cover today is Appalachian St against Troy. The Mountaineers have kept it close all year and should do the same today. The Over in SMU/Tulane is appealing as well at O/U 47, which I feel is way too low given the capabilities of each team’s offense.

Now time for the picks!

Boise St (-2.5) at UNLV O/U 60.5 – Mountain West Championship 3:00 PM on Fox

After it looked like Air Force was on their way to winning the Mountain West all year, we ended up with the standard bearer of the conference and an upstart looking to break through on the national stage.

Boise St, who fired their coach early in November, has rallied around their interim coach and finds themselves in Vegas in the title game. A big win in their final regular season game vs Air Force clinched their spot in the matchup.

UNLV is having one of their best years since Randall Cunningham was at quarterback. Their success is due in large part to former Pitt coach and Greensburg Salem star Brennan Marion. Pat Narduzzi is probably still kicking himself for not promoting Marion when Mark Whipple left.

Marion’s go-go offense has been highly successful at his previous stops as an Offensive Coordinator at Howard and William & Mary and it is flourishing with the Rebels. He should be a named kick around for a Power 5 OC job, maybe even back with Pitt or with Coach Prime at Colorado.

To me, UNLV has been the most consistent team in the Mountain West. They did lose to San Jose St last weekend, but I believe that was just a blip in the radar. Give me UNLV to cover the 2.5, I think they win outright.

UNLV Rebels Cover +2.5, Boise St Broncos 24  UNLV Rebels 27

Georgia (-4.5) vs Alabama O/U 54.5 SEC Championship 4:00 PM on CBS

Georgia and Alabama meet for the first time since the 2021 National Championship game, which started the Bulldogs run towards a three peat. The win in that game was the first Georgia has beaten Alabama in recent memory. Bama actually beat the Bulldogs in the 2021 SEC Championship game.

When these teams face off, you can always expect a lot of points between these two teams. I have a funny feeling Vegas knows something by setting this total so low, but in recent years the total has been around that number when these two face off.

Despite my feeling, I like the Over 54.5 to cover in Atlanta with Georgia moving onto the College Football Playoff.

Michigan (-21.5) vs Iowa O/U 35.5 Big Ten Championship 8:00 PM on Fox

Jim Harbaugh is back! The embattled Michigan coach returns to the sideline after serving a 3 game suspension by the Big Ten. And don’t think Harbaugh and the Wolverines are going to take it easy tonight, they are out for blood.

Iowa makes it to the Big Ten title game after a painstaking 10-2 season. Iowa football plays the game just like the Steelers do, but I think this game is gonna look more like Steelers vs the 49ers than the Steelers against the Bengals.

The Hawkeyes have a great defense that can’t be understated, but the offense is going to struggle tonight. Look for the Wolverines to score as many points as they can to show the Big Ten up.
