ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Aliquippa linebacker Cameron Lindsey made his decision official on Wednesday, as he signed his National Letter of Intent to join Pitt football as a member of the Class of 2024 on National Signing Day at Aliquippa High School.
RM LAW, P.C. is a boutique litigation law firm with a national practice dedicated to protecting shareholders’ interests and promoting improved corporate governance practices.
He played an important role for Aliquippa in 2023 in their perfect 14-0 season, including 118 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, one interception and one sack. Lindsey also put his talents to use offensively at tight end, catching six passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns, along with 363 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 50 rushes on the ground. His great play earned him Pittsburgh Union Progress Player of the Year honors.
“It was important to me because it’s my last year, putting on the red and black,” Lindsey said on his senior year with Aliquippa. “It’s all I’ve been knowing the first 18 years of my life This year meant the most to me just to finish out strong and to get it back for my senior class year.”
Lindsey spoke with Panthers linebackers coach Rob Manalac that he would sign with the program Wednesday morning, something that makes both parties happy for what is to come.
“I’m excited for the future,” Lindsey said. “I called the staff this morning whenever I was about to sign. I was excited. They were excited. So it’s a great day.”
Lindsey also signed his NLI with Brandon Banks, who signed his NLI to Yale as well on Wednesday. The duo grew up together, won almost every game as a member of the Quips and will now play Division I football next year.
“That’s like my brother,” Lindsey said. “We’ve been talking about stuff like this since we had our first class together and we’ve been just sticking with each other through it. Happy for him just as much as he’s probably happy for me.”
“At first I didn’t, but I’m starting to get to know them a lot better as time went on since I committed,” Lindsey said on the Pitt commits in bis recruiting class. “We’ve just been starting to build a bond a little bit. So we’re definitely getting more acquainted.”
Lindsey will join fellow linebackers in Davin Brewton from New Jersey and Jeremiah Marcelin from Florida, who stayed committed to Pitt and did not flip to Maryland, in the Class of 2024. With the talented linebackers in the Class of 2023 in Rasheem Biles, Braylan Lovelace and Jordan Bass, who all played significant snaps last season, the next group will have a chance to prove their worth in 2024.
“It’s exciting,” Lindsey said. “I mean we all will push each other for the best because I mean cause I’m sure they want the best for themselves. So I’m happy to come in with a good linebacking class and I’m happy for the future.”
Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi complimented Lindsey on his senior season at his press conference at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He compared him to former All-ACC and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker SirVocea Dennis, something that Lindsey loved to hear.
“That’s a big compliment because he was a big impact on the year they won the ACC Championship and even the year after when won the Tony the Tiger [Sun] Bowl,” Lindsey said. “I mean that’s a big comparison. I appreciate it and just try to be even better than he was.”
Lindsey will join Pitt football following the end of his senior year, staying to play basketball over the winter and enjoying his final year of high school. Once he graduates, he’ll be continuing the legacy of great Aliquippa players to Pitt, including cornerbacks Darrelle Revis, a Hall of Famer, and M.J Devonshire, who is entering the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Just do me and play hard every snap like I did here in high school and just try and improve each and every week,” Lindsey said.
