Wednesday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Wizards-Pacers, Louisville-Miami, Golden Knights-Avalanche

We had a positive day for the Winning Picks, going 2-1 on the picks. The Knicks were able to cruise for a cover and victory over the lowly Portland Trail Blazers. Duke was able to ride a strong first half and cover against Pitt. We just missed a perfect 3-0 day, but the Kings blew a 2-0 lead and lost to the Lightning 3-2 in overtime. We move to 92-69-3 on the year.

With no undefeated teams left in college basketball with Houston going down last night along with top ranked Purdue, who are really the top teams in college basketball? Well, I don’t think it is the Boilermakers or Arizona, who currently have the lowest odds to win it all this year on ESPN Bet. Purdue basketball is a fraud program. They are the Big Ten version of Gonzaga, always a great regular season but a letdown in the postseason. Why would you bet a team to win it all if they haven’t reached the Final Four since 1980?!?

For Arizona, I simply don’t think they are there yet as a program. They have a better recent history than Purdue, I just don’t think they are there yet. The teams I do think are top dogs include: Houston (12/1), Kansas (14/1) Duke (25/1) and North Carolina (30/1). All these teams are good and deep enough to win it all. Just missing the cut are UConn (12/1), Kentucky (18/1) and Marquette (22/1). It will be really rough for UConn to go back-to-back, which hasn’t been done since Florida in the late 2000’s. Kentucky is very interesting to me, I think Coach Cal has won more National Championship in him. I can’t wait for March Madness.

Now onto the Winning Picks!

Washington Wizards at Indiana Pacers (-7.5) O/U 252.5 7:00 PM

The Indiana Pacers have been one of the many bigger surprises in the NBA. A team that not too long ago entered a complete rebuild, the Pacers have seemingly fast tracked this thanks to the play of Tyrese Haliburtion.

Haliburton helped lead Indiana all the way to the In-Season Tournament final, where they lost to the Lakers after upsetting the Milwaukee Bucks in the semifinals. However, Tyrese will be out for tonight and a few weeks after injuring his hamstring in a win over the Celtics on Monday.

Still, the Pacers will have too much firepower for the Wizards, who have been a comedy show of a team thanks to the antics of Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma. Indiana has been one of the highest scoring teams in recent NBA history, but I believe the total is a little too high for this game without the best player on either team participating.

That is why the Winning Pick for this game is the Under 252.5.

Under 252.5 Covers, Washington Wizards 110 Indiana Pacers 130

Louisville Cardinals at Miami Hurricanes (-16.5) O/U 157.5 7:00 PM on ACC Network

If you watched Pitt’s victory over Louisville on Saturday, it was probably the first time you have watched the Cardinals play this season. A decade ago, they were one of the top teams in college basketball and must see tv for basketball fans of all ages. Now, they are a complete dumpster fire inside a volcano.

Miami is trying to get back on track after losing a heartbreaker to Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes are a very sneaky team, especially as the season gets going. No one gives them a chance and then, boom, they are in the Elite Eight and Final Four. Don’t sleep on Miami when the postseason rolls around.

As for tonight, the Hurricanes should control this game from start to finish and cruise to a cover. Louisville should honestly forfeit the rest of their games in the ACC, it is not going to get any better for the Cardinals.

Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche (-145) O/U 6.5 10:00 PM on TNT

The last two Stanley Cup Champions clash in a contest we hope is better than the first time these teams faced off this season. Vegas took Colorado to the woodshed back in November, burying the Avalanche 7-0 in Vegas. Now, the Avalanche hope to return the favor in what has become a very competitive Western Conference.

You would think both of these teams would be in first play at this juncture of the season, but it is actually two surprise Canadian teams leading the Central and Pacific, with the one in the Pacific the biggest surprise in the NHL. Colorado sits in second to Winnipeg by 3 points while Vegas trails the red hot and out of nowhere Vancouver by 6 points.

I expect this game to be a lot more tight and low scoring than their first encounter. Look for the Avalanche to get revenge over the Knights in an extremely tight affair. Don’t expect a lot of goals in this one.

Under 6.5 Covers, Vegas Golden Knights 2 Colorado Avalanche 3
