Pitt’s Blake Hinson Ties Program Record for Consecutive Three Pointers

Pitt is set to face Missouri in the ACC/SEC Challenge next season

With his first three of the night against Georgia Tech on Tuesday night, Pitt’s Blake Hinson made his way into the Panthers’ program record books.

Hinson tied the program record for consecutive threes made with eight, dating back to his last game against Duke. Later on in the first half against Georgia Tech, Hinson missed two three pointers, making him 1-for-3 on the half and ending the streak. That historic performance, in which Hinson went 7 for 7 from three-point range, led the Panthers to the upset win on the road over No. 7 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Hinson has hit 45+ threes in all four years of his collegiate career, with the first two seasons coming at Ole Miss and the past two at Pitt. With the Panthers last year, he hit 97 threes, shooting 38% from outside. He came into the Georgia Tech game with 63 made threes on 42% from three-point range this year. Hinson does not have any college eligibility remaining after this season, but has surely cemented himself as a memorable Pitt player in his two years with the program.

Standing on Business: Blake Hinson Cements Himself in Pitt History with Performance Against Duke

Hinson came into the Georgia Tech game averaging a team-high 18.4 points and five rebounds per game. He has started all 19 games this season as the team’s senior leader, and came into the game averaging 31.7 minutes per game — the exact number that he played last season.
