Saturday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Fordham-Duquesne, Pitt-Miami, Canadiens-Penguins

Published

on

It was a positive night for the Winning Picks Friday night. Both our basketball picks were able to cover as Wisconsin and the Spurs were able to cover in their games comfortably. The Penguins unfortunately lost in a shootout and failed to hit our bet. They did get a point, but that doesn’t help us. We moved to 121-86-3 on the year.

We have an action packed day of Pittsburgh sports with three local teams in action. Those will be the Winning Picks for today, but I do have some leans in college basketball. Lots of great games today. Could we see more ranked teams going down today?

A ranked team that I don’t believe will fall today is North Carolina. I have been riding the Tar Heels since I saw them play Pitt and I truly think they are going to be the team to beat come March Madness. They take care of business on the road against Florida St. Ranked teams I feel could be on upset alert today include BYU, Kansas and Arizona. The Big 12 has been a gauntlet this season.

One bet in college basketball you should definitely place his Providence covering against Georgetown. Ed Cooley left the Friars for the Hoyas and Providence fans are still not happy about it. The Friars will blow out their former coach and his new team this afternoon.

Now time the Winning Picks!

Fordham Rams at Duquesne Dukes (-7.5) O/U 144.5 12:30 PM on USA Network

The brewskis will be following at the Cooper Fieldhouse on $1 beer day as the Duquesne hosts the Fordham Rams. The Dukes finally picked up their long awaited first A-10 on Tuesday versus St. Bonaventure. Like most games with Duquesne this year, it came down to the final minutes.

Duquesne has yet to show in A-10 play why they were picked to finish amongst the top of the conference. Yes, they beat St. Bonaventure, but that was in a complete rock fight from the field and the Bonnies nearly came back and won.

For today’s game, I believe this spread is just too high on the Dukes. They have not shown that they can blow out any opponent, playing everyone tight to the vest over the last month. Duquesne wins today but Fordham will cover.

Fordham Covers +7.5, Fordham Rams 58  Duquesne Dukes 63

Pitt Panthers at Miami Hurricanes (-4.5) O/U 150.5 2:15 PM on The CW/22 the Point

It has been an up and down season for the Panthers filled with highs and lows. Most of those highs have come on the road this year. Pitt is 4-1 on the road this season including 3-1 in ACC play with the sole loss coming at Syracuse.

Miami, who made it all the way to the Final Four last team with a squad plucked from the transfer portal, has struggled to capture the same form this season. They currently find themselves outside of the bracket predictions and will need a strong finish to the season to make it back to the tournament. Pitt is also in that same spot.

This new lineup for Pitt with Jalen Lowe in the starting five has been a revelation for the Panthers. They will still need star Blake Hinson to have a big game to survive the Hurricanes. I think Hinson has another great game, but Miami wins by a few. Pitt will cover though.

Pitt Covers +4.5, Pitt Panthers 73 Miami Hurricanes 75

Montreal Canadiens at Pittsburgh Penguins (-240) O/U 6.5 7:00 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh

The Penguins will need to lick their wounds from a tough loss to the Florida Panthers and gear up tonight to face the Montreal Canadiens at home. The silver lining last night was the Pens did get a point with the shootout loss, but they need wins and not overtime losses if they want to get back into playoff contention.

Montreal is only a few points behind the Penguins in the race for the last Wildcard spot in the East. Both of these teams played a high scoring affair in their first matchup, an overtime win for the Pens in French Canada.

I believe tonight will have the same vibe as their previous matchup with a high scoring game expected. The moneyline is way too high to take the Penguins, so the Winning Pick here is the over.
