Monday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Duke-Virginia Tech, Predators-Senators, Bucks-Nuggets

Published

on

Though we were able to hit our first Winning Pick of the day with RMU +8.6, we failed to win either of our over or under bets in the Conference Championship games. We went 1-2 yesterday. Congrats to the Chiefs and 49ers on making it to the Super Bowl. We moved to 123-90-3 on the year.

This two week period before the Super Bowl probably is one of my favorite times of year for sports gambling. Yes, we have to wait awhile for the big game, but I love to talk myself into betting a non-quarterback to win the Super Bowl MVP. And this year, I’ve started as soon as the clock struck zero in Lions/49ers.

This pick is going up and down a bit depending on which sportsbook you use to bet Super Bowl MVP. And that is none other than Mr. Taylor Swift Travis Kelce, who is 16/1 to win MVP right now on ESPN Bet. I know, like me, you are sick of these two and we get two more weeks of this before the big game in Vegas. But, hear me out.

If you didn’t already know, 20% of the Super Bowl MVP is decided by the fans. You know the millions, and I mean millions, of Taylor Swift are going to be voting the hell out of Taylor’s boyfriend. The Tiktoks are already being made by the Swifties to show them how to vote for this. They are being made to show them how to bet Kelce to win this award. This line is going to bet down to under 10/1 by kickoff in my opinion. Get Travis Kelce for Super Bowl MVP down before the Swifies bet it down.

Now onto the Winning Picks!

Duke Blue Devils (-3.5) at Virginia Tech Hokies O/U 146.5 7:00 PM on ESPN

Talk about one of the all-time sandwich games for Duke. After an emotional 1-point win over Clemson at home on Saturday, the Blue Devils travel to Blacksburg to face the Hokies of Virginia Tech. This game is sandwiched between this Saturday’s showdown with North Carolina in Chapel Hill, which is probably the biggest game for this rivalry since they met in the Final Four a few years back.

Where will the Dukies’ heads be tonight? Will they be thinking about that showdown on Saturday? And you can’t forget, Blacksburg has been historically a house of horrors for Duke, with teams better than this one falling to the Hokies on the road.

I believe Virginia Tech will get it close throughout and have a chance to win this game outright. The Winning Pick for this game is for the Hokies to cover versus Duke.

Nashville Predators at Ottawa Senators (-115) O/U 6.5 7:00 PM on NHL Network

One team fighting for a playoff spot faces a team just looking to get out of the bottom as Nashville heads to the capital of Canada to face the Senators. The Predators remain a point out of the final Wildcard spot in the West. Ottawa, on the other hand, is dead last in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Blue Jackets by two points for second to last place.

Surprisingly, the oddsmakers for this game have made the Senators a light favorite in the game. They do have a better record at home than on the road, but they have lost their last 3 games at home. Coupled with Nashville being a better team on the road than at home, I like the Predators to win tonight in Ottawa.

Milwaukee Bucks at Denver Nuggets (-3.5) O/U 238.5 9:00 PM

A matchup between 2 of the last 3 NBA Champions as the Milwaukee Bucks clash with the Nuggets in Denver. This will be the Bucks coaching debut of veteran head coach Doc Rivers, after the puzzling firing of Adrian Griffin.

Though I think Rivers is a good coach, he has not gotten any team to the NBA Finals since he left Boston. He can’t seem to get over that hump. And tonight, will be another hump playing the defending champs in his first game as coach.

The Bucks will need time to settle in with Doc. I don’t think playing the Nuggets will help to settle that. The Winning Pick tonight is for the Nuggets to cover and win versus the Bucks.
