Friday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Dayton-VCU, Hawks-76ers, Penguins-Wild
It was another positive night for the Winning Picks, finishing 2-1 on the night. Green Bay was able to survive in overtime against RMU to cover. As I said in yesterday’s post, the wrong team was favored. The Nuggets were also able to cap off our night covering against the Lakers on the road. Unfortunately, the under failed to cover in the Lightning/Islander game. We moved to 140-106-3 on the year.
I am very glad the Super Bowl is just a few days away because we are running out of prop bets to talk about. For today, we will look at the sack props offered by ESPN Bet that have really attracted my attention. And no, these are not props for Nick Bosa or Chris Jones.
Bosa right now is +110 to get a sack while Chris Jones is +140. Though I believe Bosa can and will get a sack, his teammate on the other side of the line and another former Buckeye has even more value on him to get a sack. Chase Young is currently +325 to get a sack in the Super Bowl. He has played well since being traded from Washington and reuniting with Bosa. I think he will shine on the big stage.
As for the Chiefs, one of Jones’ teammates has the exact same odds as him to get a sack and is probably playing the best football to this point of his career. George Karlaftis is currently blossoming before our eyes as a great pass rusher. Like Jones, he is +140 to get a sack. If you can avoid going up against Trent Williams for a few plays, he will hit this prop.

Dayton Flyers (-1.5) at VCU Rams O/U 135.5 7:00 PM on ESPN2
Only three games tonight in Division 1 basketball. That is extremely rare even for a Friday night, when we normally get at least 10 games on the schedule. Dayton has been flying high this year in the A-10, back to the form the program had pre-pandemic. But they will have a rough test tonight against VCU.
These teams have flip flopped back and forth wins over their last several games. In their last meeting for the A-10 Championship, the Rams beat the Flyers by double digits. I think Dayton gets a little revenge tonight and gets the cover and wins at VCU.

Get your running shoes on for this game because we have another Atlanta Hawks style track meet tonight. And you might be thinking to yourself, there is no way the 76ers help covering the over with Joel Embiid. They don’t have the offense to do it. Well, it doesn’t have to do with the offense, but the defense that is no absence without Patrick Beverley.
Pat Bev may be getting a little old, but he is still one of the best defensive guards in the NBA. Even when the 76ers had Beverley back in January when these two teams faced, Philly still gave up 139 points. I expect points, points and more points tonight and the over covers.

It will be a bittersweet night for Penguins fans who tune in. This will be the last time former Pens top draft pick Marc-Andre Fleury faces his former team. The waterworks will be going on both sides. Can the Penguins overcome this emotion facing their friend and former teammate for the last time?
Fleury has had an up and down year to say the least in his final campaign before he retires. But you can throw the record books out tonight for this game. Though I do normally pick the Penguins in a low moneyline situation like tonight, I am taking the Wild to rally around Fleury and win tonight against the Pens. Bring the tissues for this one, you will need them.
