New Pitt offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau has wasted little time on the recruiting trail since he was hired a few weeks ago.

Pitt’s most recent offer was extended Thursday night to 2025 3-star Chris Vigna out of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J.

Originally recruited by tight end’s coach Tim Salem, it took a little bit longer for an offer to come around, but it still means just as much.

“Means a lot. It’s a top program,” Vigna said. “It seems like the program is going in the right direction with the new OC and highly rated QB coming in.”

Since the first conversations with Salem, Vigna has felt a connection and that has carried over with Darveau.

“Conversations with coach Salem were always good,” he said. “Coach Narduzzi came to my school, and we spoke also. Lately, I have been talking a lot with coach Darveau, which I prefer since he will be my position coach. He has been great so far.”

Standing at 6-foot-5, 285-pounds, Vigna brings a dynamic approach to the offensive line.

“My high school offense requires you to be both very physical and also athletic, so lineman need to be in great shape so you can block and get down field. I feel like I possess those qualities,” Vigna said.

Ever since Vigna has suited up for the Bergen Catholic Crusaders, all they have done is win. This past season as a junior, Vigna helped the Crusaders win their third consecutive New Jersey state title.

He feels that his play can translate over to the collegiate level.

“I think I would bring a lot of versatility to a team,” he said. “I have played all five positions on the line, so I would be willing to play whatever position that coach Darveau would want me to.”

Vigna’s Pitt offer is now his seventh from a Power 4 school, which includes Cincinnati, West Virginia, Syracuse, Duke, Virginia Tech and Boston College.

Pitt is a school that is in the mix for Vigna, and the Panthers will have an opportunity to leave a mark on him once he makes a visit that he intends on doing during spring practices.

“Pitt is definitely a school I am interested in,” Vigna said. “I have not been able to go see the campus and football facilities and I’m just getting to know the new coaches, so I will have a much better feel after my visit to spring practice.”
