Jason Capel in Attendance for 5-Star Guard Meleek Thomas Playoff Game

With their season in the books, the Pitt basketball coaches will be on the road recruiting both high school and college players that enter the transfer portal.
That process started tonight as assistant coach Jason Capel was at North Allegheny High School to take in the semifinal game between Lincoln Park and Hampton.
Capel’s attention was not only on future Pitt guard Brandon Cummings but also on 2025 5-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas.

Liam Mignogna has 11 points and eclipsed 1,000 career points.

Two weeks ago, Thomas made his official visit to Pitt and Capel is obviously envisioning a future backcourt of Thomas and Cummings.
The problem is when you’re a 5-star recruit and ranked as the No. 7 overall player in the country, you’re at the top of the wish list of every major program in the country.
That’s currently where Thomas finds himself.
The question now is can Pitt successfully sell this elite talent on staying home to star in his hometown with his close friend Cummings? Pitt will also try and show Thomas the opportunity Pitt current freshmen Bub Carrington and Jaland Lowe received and what they were able to do with it.
