Report: Pitt’s Federiko Federiko to Enter Transfer Portal After Two Years at Pitt

Published

on

Federiko Federiko appears to be moving on from the Pitt program.

After two years with the Panthers, the Finnish big man has decided to enter the transfer portal, per Derek Murray of Cerebro Sports.

Federiko’s production and minutes decreased from his sophomore to his junior season with the Panthers. After averaging 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in year one (23.4 MPG), he went on to average 4.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this past season in 21.3 minutes per game. Federiko had seven games with at least eight points, including two games in double-digit scoring.

Federiko is the first Panther to hit the transfer portal this season after Pitt finished 22-11 and 12-8 in conference play. The Panthers lose seniors Blake Hinson and KJ Marshall after this year, as they do not have any eligibility remaining.

Pitt has already contacted several transfers in the portal, and The Portal Report will be tracking all of the Panthers’ portal recruiting action throughout the spring. Check out the link below for access!

The Panthers now have Guillermo Diaz-Graham (will be junior) and Papa Kante (will be redshirt freshman) on the roster at the five position.

I hope Federiko does well where ever he ends up. I am confident with Papa Kante in the mix and with quality players in the transfer portal that Pitt can make an upgrade at the Center position. Clifford Omoruyi is in the portal from Rutgers. He should be on top of the list to contact.

He probably knew his minutes were likely to decrease further next year with Kante in the mix. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

Lol. Nick Santos started at a Pitt as an incoming freshman. He was given the opportunity time and time again to seize playing time at Pitt. He often looked lost out there and was exposed often by better caliber players. If you paid attention you would have seen he was not an ACC caliber player. It was pretty clear. He is perfect at the mid major level. Your comment makes no sense.

Best of luck to Fed! For what ever reason he didn’t seem to progress this year. Wasn’t as aggressive in paint and liability on pop and pick as well as at the line. Hopefully he adds to his skill set and steps forward with a new program.

Good luck to him. I noticed that too. Do Not want to be negative because he helped dig us out of a hole. The mental side of the game seemed to hold him back. He made errors that diminished his playing time. He may find himself at a mid-major school.

Head-scratcher move. Can’t see him being the man at center with a power 5 team without competing just like would have to at Pitt. He has established himself as a reliable defender and shot blocker. Kante will need to share minutes and it can’t just be with Diaz.

Best wishes Fede … always brought that smile and positive attitude. Good memories.

I wanted so much for him to succeed but disappointing second year. I cringed in the tournament against UNC several times when Lowe tried to feed him down low and he couldn’t even catch the ball. Good luck, Fede. I think you tried.

He was not a good rebounder and couldn’t score. If the ball was passed to him outside of the dunking area it was a sure turnover. Pitt needs a 10 point 8 rebound front court player. I doubt either Graham brother is it. They may try hard but like Federiko they don’t have it.

Sad, but true, and made no progress this season from last.
