Tuesday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Hurricanes-Penguins, Cincinnati-Indiana St, Mavericks-Kings
Another down day for the Winning Picks, finishing up 1-2. The over was able to cover in Celtics/Hawks after Atlanta erased a 30 point deficit to win the game. Iowa and Caitlin Clark were able to hold off WVU but they could not cover. Vancouver dropped a tough game to Los Angeles at home in the NHL. We moved to 218-166-3 on the year.
Now that the Pirates roster has basically been filled out for this upcoming season, I am starting to like this team a bit. They are going to be able to hit, at least hit home runs, but the bigger question is with the pitching staff and if Paul Skenes will force his way to the majors. Call me crazy, but I believe the Pirates have a good shot at winning the division in 2024.
And here me out on this. I need to explain myself here. I am not saying that because the Pirates have made a huge step in the offseason, it’s more because of the rest of the NL Central. The Brewers are now rebuilding, the Reds are dealing with injuries and suspensions and I am not sure what to think about the Cardinals with glaring holes still in their clubhouse leadership. That only leaves the Cubs, who stole Craig Counsell from Milwaukee. Chicago is a solid team but they are beatable.
The Pirates are +1300 to win the division according to ESPN BET. In terms of value and the teams that are ahead of them, this is a great small wager to make before the season begins. If it happens, it would be the Pirates first division title since 1992 when I was 2 months old.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have taken suck to a whole new level since we last included them in the Winning Picks. And tonight will make Pens fans even more sick with the return of Jake Guentzel to Pittsburgh after his trade to Carolina a few weeks ago.
Everyone and their brother hated the return on that trade, but what did you think they would get for a rental player who is a free agent after this year? I do expect Guentzel to score tonight and I like the under to cover too. The Penguins are dead in the water, they can’t wait for the season to end.

Cincinnati Bearcats at Indiana St Sycamores (-3.5) O/U 154.5 9:00 PM on ESPN
When Indiana St was left out of the NCAA Tournament last weekend, they didn’t sulk. Instead, they have taken their frustrations out on their NIT opponents. They took out an AAC team, a Big Ten team and now they get a Big 12 team as Cincinnati heads to Terre Haute in the NIT Quarterfinals.
The Bearcats did have some big wins this season, but they were still middle of the pack in their first year in the Big 12. But right now, you can’t bet against the Sycamores. I like Indiana St to roll tonight over Cincinnati.

A battle for seeding in the west happens in Sacramento tonight as the Kings host the Mavericks. Both of these teams are scorching hot right now with each winning over 70% in their last 10 games. So who has the edge tonight?
It seems like since his poorish showing at the All-Star game that Luka Doncic has been playing some of his best basketball of the season. He will probably go over his point total again tonight. As for the game as a whole, I like the Mavericks to get the road cover and win against the Kings.
