Former Pitt center Federiko Federiko is taking his talents to the Lone Star State.
On Wednesday, Federiko announced that he was moving to the Big 12 and Texas Tech.
Back on March 21st, Federiko entered the Transfer Portal after spending 2 seasons and playing a significant role with the team.
Federiko’s production and minutes decreased from his sophomore to his junior season with the Panthers. After averaging 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in year one (23.4 minutes per game), he went on to average 4.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this past season in 21.3 minutes per game. Federiko had seven games with at least eight points, including two games in double-digit scoring.
The 6’11” center started 53 of 68 games for Pitt and had back-to-back seasons with a top 3 block % in the ACC.
Federiko was the first Panther to hit the transfer portal this season after Pitt finished 22-11 and 12-8 in conference play.
Thank you Feddy! Never quite developed offensively, but provided some excellent defense when he played with confidence. His play against Bacot and the Tar Heels his first year will be my favorite memories of him.
I do suspect he will not see as much playing time at Tech as he did at Pitt, but he can be a solid defensive contributor from the bench in limited minutes on a ranked team.
Good call…Think he’s gonna be disappointed in his playing time there.Honestly don’t know the situation there, but his offensive liabilities will most likely hinder his playing time
The Big 12 is more physical than the ACC. It is officiated differently, too. I can see him getting bullied playing in that league. We shall see.
I am glad for him. Not sure how much playing time he gets there. Was his choice to go there
I wish him luck ,but he’s going to be a bench player there
