Former Pitt DE Dayon Hayes A Busy Man Since Entering Transfer Portal

Published

on

Pitt defensive end Dayon Hayes.

It’s not a surprise to hear that Dayon Hayes has been a popular man since making the surprise announcement to leave Pitt and enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound senior from Westinghouse in Pittsburgh tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that his phone has been busy with teams interested in adding him to their 2024 roster. Hayes will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Since making his decision on Monday, Hayes tells PSN that the following schools have reached out to him: Penn State, Colorado, Virginia, Louisville, Washington, Duke, Central Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan State, USC, Colorado State, Minnesota, Indiana, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Baylor.

At this point, Hayes has not scheduled any official visits.

Hayes finished the 2023 season with 45 tackles (25 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble, four pass breakups and a lot of pressures, hurries and quarterback hits despite the relatively low sack totals. Hayes was better than his individual statistics indicated last season, but he will attempt to realize that full potential elsewhere.

He finishes his Pitt career with 81 tackles (45 solo), 26.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles and five pass breakups.

Oh I’m sure he’s busy telling everyone to submit their top bids by the end of the week so he can make his final decision on where is loyalty will be for 2024/2025.

That’s the college game today. Hopefully it changes, until then pit better pony up or lose good players like Addison and Hayes. He’s probably going to Penn State

PSU couldn’t keep their top WR, so probably NOT!

You mean the WR that was a locker room headache and got little production in the last 4 games? You sound just like a Pitt fan

I am sure the lure of locker room sex draws a certain kind of player to PSU.
PS: Looks like they managed to sweep that one under the rug.

what does that have to do with a team that puts out early round DL draft picks every year?

A local HS Wpial star is headed to PSU as a preferred walk on. He was accepted into the Sandusky school of juvenile proctology to where he can learn from the master himself.

Agree. NIL has ruined college sports for good. It will be the same 8-12 teams every year and then everyone else. Sad what they have done!

The college administrations started to ruin college football by making it about the money. NIL was the nail in the coffin.

We want volunteers not hostage mercenaries to the highest NIL $$$. Good luck in your choice. H2P.

Sooooo…he left because he didn’t feel the team was ready to compete just yet. Looking at that list all I see are teams in developmental years similar to the Panthers.

He left after he got some NIL money from Pitt and then decided to go elsewhere to get even more NIL money from the next team. I guess this was all part of “god’s plan” that he alluded to.

A lot of them seem to enjoy invoking god. Their actions, what they listen to 24/7 and their neighborhoods don’t seem to jive with anything to do with God.

The game is becoming unfollowable. I can’t help but notice how disinterested I’ve become, what a shame, college football was always #1 here.

Ideally, he goes somewhere for alot of money, gets hurt and is out all year or maybe another harassment charge

Where’s my NIL money? I had four less sacks than him in 2023 and I don’t even play.
