Pitt vs. UCF.

Pitt will kick off a new (non-consecutive season) home-and-home series with UCF starting in 2026.

Pitt and UCF jointly announced Thursday morning that Pitt will host UCF at Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 12, 2026, and the Panthers will travel to FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on Sept. 15, 2029.

The non-conference schedule for 2026 now includes home games against Miami (Oh.) and UCF and an away game against Wisconsin. The non-conference slate in 2029 includes home games against West Virginia and Richmond and an away game against Richmond.

Pitt has played UCF three times in its history, dating back to a 52-7 win against the Knights in 2006 (led by 135 yards and three touchdowns from LaRod Stephens-Howling), but it was the most recent home-and-home that stands out.

UCF enacted some revenge when the series began in Orlando, Fla. in 2018, knocking off the Panthers 45-14, but Panther fans will remember the 2019 edition much more fondly.

The Knights marched into Pittsburgh ranked 15th in the country, riding a 25-game regular season win streak and left with a 35-34 loss courtesy of the “Pitt Special.”

Trailing 34-28 with just under a minute left in the fourth quarter, facing a 4th-and-3 from the 4-yard line, Pat Narduzzi channeled the Philadelphia Eagles’ Philly Special and ran a pass play for wideout Aaron Matthews.

Running back A.J. Davis took a shotgun snap, pitched the ball to a sweeping Matthews and Matthews hit Kenny Pickett in the end zone for a game-winning touchdown. It was a “special” win for the Panthers at what was then Heinz Field.

Pitt leads the all-time series 2-1, and when the pair meet again, it will be the first time the two sides have met as Power Four opponents.
