Pitt All 105: OL Jason Collier Jr. in the Mix to Start on the Inside

All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of the Pitt 2024 training camp roster.
Jason Collier Jr., a sixth-year senior offensive lineman from West Deptford in West Deptford, N.J.
2023 season: Collier played in all 12 games last season, making seven starts (four at right guard and three at guard)
Stats: Collier has played in 36 games during his career in Pittsburgh, making all seven of his starts last season
Camp outlook: Collier is one of the oldest players in the offensive line room, entering his sixth season with the program, and he’s firmly in the mix on the line and expected to be a leader on and off the field this summer
Projected role: Collier didn’t have the smoothest performance on the offensive line last season (that could be said for the whole unit), but he’s been brought back for his final season and is in the mix for one of the starting spots on the interior
Jason Collier Jr. (6-foot-6, 330 pounds) initially committed to Pitt over offers from Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia as a three-star recruit in the class of 2019.
Collier served primarily on the special teams during the early portion of his Pitt career, before emerging during fall camp last year. With an injury to Ryan Jacoby and some losses to graduation and professional football, Collier was called upon to start.
“Again, those two (Jacoby and Collier) were battling it out, and Jason was having a good camp, as well,” Narduzzi said last summer. “But Jason has been here for a long time. He knows the system. He’s smart. He’s played right guard. He’s played left guard.”
It wasn’t the smoothest season for Collier as he gave way to true freshman BJ Williams at times, but he’s definitely in the mix to start entering the 2024 season. There’s the potential for more consistent play with more reps this summer. Jacoby, Collier, Williams and Terrence Enos Jr. are all in the mix.
