Pitt Football Brings Back Important Person to Front Office

In today’s age of college athletics, a programs front office is now as important as the coaching staff.
In order to have successful teams with sustained winning potential, teams must have strong people in charge of their monitoring and recruiting of the Transfer Portal, NIL and revenue sharing with the athletes.
Today, Pitt brought back a figure that could be key in all of this for the football program.
Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that Mark Diethorn is back with Pitt with the title of assistant athletic director for recruiting.
Diethorn has decade of college experience, having worked most recently at Michigan State as their Executive Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting.
The Belle Vernon native returns to Pitt after having worked there from 2012-17 under Paul Chryst and at the start of the Pat Narduzzi era. Diethorn’s other experience includes time at Florida under Urban Meyer (2009-10) and Virginia Tech (2018-21).
While at Pitt, Diethorn was promoted to Director of Recruiting in 2015 and played a role in Pitt landing 31 players who went on to play in the NFL including Tyler Boyd, James Conner, Dorian Johnson, Avonte Maddox, Nathan Peterman, Brian O’Neill and Jordan Whitehead.
Diethorn has a tremendous reputation in the world of college football and is a huge addition to the football program.
