Pitt has been contacting transfers in the portal for a few weeks now, and a recent report says that the Panthers’ staff has contacted a transfer from within the ACC.
Jake Weingarten reported that Pitt was one of the programs to reach out to Louisville transfer Jae’Lyn Withers, a 6-foot-9 forward who averaged almost nine points per game for the Cardinals this year.
Withers is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, and has played three seasons of college ball, all for the Cardinals. After averaging more than 10 points per game as a freshman in 2020-21, Withers averaged just five last year. Then, this season, his offensive game took another step up as he scored 8.9 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game. Withers shot 43% from the field, as well as 41.7% from three-point range.
This year against Pitt, Withers scored nine points in the first matchup, and scored eight and grabbed seven rebounds in the second.
Pitt has now contacted at least six players in the transfer portal.
