Pitt G Nike Sibande to Participate in College Slam Dunk Contest

Published

on

Pitt guard Nike Sibande’s time on a college court is not done just yet. Sibande was included by the creator of Dunk League & Dunk Diaries Chuck Millan as a verbal commitment to participate in the 2023 College Slam Dunk Contest.

Sibande joins Kamari Brown (Georgia Southern), Jamal Harris (Northern New Mexico), Taevion Kinsey (Marshall), and Kentucky’s Jacob Toppin, whose brother Obi won the 2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. There are three spots remaining to round out the eight-man field of dunkers.

Sibande displayed highlight-reel dunks in a Panther uniform and showed off his impressive hops against Miami and Syracuse. The 6-foot-4, 2022-23 ACC Sixth Man of the Year averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Panthers this season, earning 47 total votes for the award. Sibande’s leaping abilities were also on full display at Miami (Ohio) and now has the opportunity to star on the national stage.

The College Slam Dunk Contest will commence in Houston, Texas on March 30 at 6:30 p.m. The event will air on ESPN2 and include the College 3-Point Championship.
