Report: Pitt Contacts Former 5-Star, TCU Transfer WR Jordan Hudson
Tiquan Underwood’s work this spring is far from limited to his efforts in landing a couple more wide receivers in the class of 2024. He’s going to be — and has already been — very active in the transfer portal.
Pitt has already offered transfer wide receivers in JaQuae Jackson, Darius Lassiter and Dylan Goffney this spring, and there will be more, but the latest receiver of interest is TCU transfer wide receiver Jordan Hudson.
Pitt is one of the many schools to contact Hudson since he entered the transfer portal a few days ago, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported.
Hudson arrived at TCU as a five-star recruit in the class of 2022, with offers from quite a few major college programs, and he made an impact — even in the College Football Playoff — last season.
Hudson — a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver originally from Garland, Texas — played in 14 games during his freshman season at TCU. He caught 14 receptions for 174 yards (12.4 yards per reception) and four touchdowns.
He flashed in a September matchup against Tarleton State, recording five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. But he also recorded two receptions — both for touchdowns — against Iowa State and racked up 34 yards against Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl.
Hudson received 215 offensive snaps last season (127 receiving and 88 run-blocking snaps), and he operated out wide 95% of the time he lined up as a wide receiver, according to PFF, which speaks to his future as an X or Z receiver in a college offense.
With a 12.8-yard average depth of target last season, he did most of his damage in the deep passing game. Hudson turned six targets over 20 yards into four receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
TCU relied heavily upon a stable of wide receivers that featured Quentin Johnson, but Hudson was able to carve out a depth role in a deep, experienced wide receiving corps. He racked up 34 yards after the catch — racking up 1.44 yards per route run — while dropping just one pass.
Pitt’s wide receiving corps features a starting trio of Konata Mumpfield, Bub Meand Daejon Reynolds as of this moment, but it’s a starting unit that has its own questions. As does the young, talented, inexperienced unit waiting in the wings.
Pitt needs a couple of wide receivers with experience to supplement a unit without legitimate experience, and while Hudson doesn’t have a wealth of experience, he’s the kind of high-upside option that is hard to come by.
It will be a tough task to lure Hudson from TCU, but Underwood is the kind of receivers coach to believe in. It comes down to having the opportunity to bring him onto the campus.

Sanders puts the kid TRAVIS under the bus when mistakes are made. For the kids sake it will be sooner than later so he can succeed.
