Of the players speaking at today’s media day, notable absences include fullback George Aston, offensive lineman Alex Bookser, defensive end Dwayne Hendrix, wide receiver Aaron Mathews, cornerback Phillipie Motley, defensive lineman Amir Watts, safety Jordan Whitehead and linebacker Quintin Wirginis.

UPDATE (12:07 PM) by Alan Saunders-

I caught up with former Pitt and Steelers tight end Scott Orndoff, who is rehabbing his hamstring injury at the facility. He said he’s feeling good and hopes to catch on with another team soon.

Check out the sights and sounds of Day 7 of Pitt football training camp. Special teams coach Andre Powell led a punt block drill while defensive line coach Charlie Partridge put his men through the paces.

UPDATE (9:37 AM)-

**For the second time in a week, defensive end Rashad Weaver was named the Pitt defensive player of the day. Sure looks like he’s making a push for that defensive end spot opposite Dewayne Hendrix.
