Pitt Extends Offer to 2019 4-Star Athlete Mark-Antony Richards
Pitt continues its run of offering underclassmen in Florida by putting their hats in the ring for one of the top players in the entire country.
Mark-Antony Richards (6-foot-1, 187 pounds) is a junior at Wellington High School (Palm Beach, Florida) and rated by Rivals as the 22nd best player in the country. The star athlete is rated by Rivals as the #4 junior in Florida and the #3 junior athlete in the country. Today he received an offer from the Panthers. PSN believes that Charlie Partridge was the coach that offered Richards.
Along with Pitt, Richards also holds offers from Miami (FL), Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi, Ohio State and Tennessee.

This evening after getting the news from Pitt, PSN spoke with Richards about the offer and his overall recruitment.
“I was in gym class today when I found out about the offer. The Pitt assistant was in the school today and told my coach that I had the offer from the University of Pittsburgh. They’ve actually been following and recruiting me since the beginning of my junior season,” said Richards.
“I’ve been aware of the effort Pitt has made in recruiting my state and trying to get some great players from Florida. As far as what I know about Pitt, I know that two of my favorite players went to Pitt, Tyler Boyd and James Conner.”
Richards is listed by the recruiting websites as an athlete. I asked him about that and which position he’d prefer to play in college.

“I play running back and also safety and cornerback for my high school team. I actually try to play as many positions as I can to help out and can actually play six or seven positions. At Pitt, I’d like to play running back. The recruiting sites list me as an athlete but I consider myself more of an offensive player,” said Richards.
Being from Florida and having offers already from Florida and Miami (FL), most people assume Richards will eventually commit to one of “the big three” schools in his home state but he tells me that’s not a guarantee.
“I’ve thought about leaving the state and my family really wouldn’t have a problem with it. They want it to be where I’m most comfortable. As far as Pittsburgh goes, that’s a great area and I’d have no problem with it. I wouldn’t mind going as far away as California. Distance isn’t an issue for me.”
Now that Pitt has offered this special player, their next challenge is trying to get him on campus for a visit. Time will tell if that happens.
