2020 Pitt Targets: Maryland Athlete Charles Bell

Starting on February 7, the Pitt football staff’s recruiting efforts will officially turn to the Class of 2020.

Pitt has offers out already to more than 100 juniors but with their recruiting done for the Class of 2019 in the books, all eyes, texts, and e-mails will be targeting current high school juniors.

The latest player to receive an offer from Pitt is 2020 athlete Charles Bell from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This was a big deal for Bell (6′ 0″, 190) because it was his first offer from a Power Five program.

“I’ve been texting with their coach (Andre Powell) and he told me how he liked my film and then said we have an offer for you if you want it. Of course, I said yes,” said Bell. “Later on, my coach came down and congratulated me and he said that Pitt officially offered me.”

“Right now, getting this first major offer I feel like it’s the biggest accomplishment of my life. I’ve been waiting on this day and this moment forever.”

“When I got the offer, I was actually in weight training with my football teammates. The coach then made the announcement in front of the team and we had a special moment and everyone was just really happy for me,” said Bell.

Bell tells me that he believes he’s someone that has the physical ability to be a couple different positions in college, namely defensive back, wide receiver and kick returner.

“I don’t feel I have one position that I think is my strongest because my entire life I’ve been asked to play different positions for my teams. I just feel like I’m an athlete and can play anywhere on the field and will play wherever the coaches asks me to.”

While Pitt was the first to officially offer, Bell has also been getting plenty of interest from Rutgers, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Texas and plans to start making unofficial visits including one to Pitt very soon.
