Postgame Reaction: All about the ACC Tournament Now for Pitt

ATLANTA — “I’ve seen teams go into postseason as far as the conference tournament, do crappy, then turn it around and go on a hot streak and win out and make postseason play,” Pitt forward Eric Hamilton said after his team’s loss at Georgia Tech. “The window is open for me. I’ll be telling my teammates that as well.”

The ACC Tournament is all that’s left for Pitt this season, and they will be going into it on a seven-game losing streak after a 73-57 loss at Georgia Tech on Wednesday night. It will start on Tuesday with the opponent still to be determined, but the Panthers have to be much better on offense than they were in Atlanta to have a chance at the type of run Hamilton thinks is possible. Pitt finished the game with 18 turnovers and just 17 made field goals, and the leading scorer was Hamilton with just 12 points.

“They do a good job of mixing their defenses,” Pitt head coach Jeff Capel said of the Yellow Jackets. “They’re constantly switching. What they do is they get you constantly thinking. And we’re not a team who can make quick adjustments when we see ‘OK, this is what they’re in, let’s go.’ We have to process it a little bit. Early in the game we were slow, we were slow getting into the game.”

Here’s more from Capel and Hamilton on Pitt’s regular season finale.
