Tom Sims will stop in Philadelphia to recruit talent from the eastern side of Pennsylvania on Thursday. While in the City of Brotherly Love, Pitt’s defensive line coach will pay a visit to Class of 2017 recruit, Emil Moody.

Moody, a 6’5” 220-pound defensive end/tight end prospect, is currently committed to Matt Rhule and the Temple Owls. However, Emil will discuss his potential future as a Panther with Coach Sims—a coach with which he is familiar.

“I first met Coach Sims at Pitt camp,” said Moody. “I mean, I know he’s a defensive line coach, played in the NFL, coached at a lot of different schools in his career.”

Pitt’s coaching staff has been in contact with Moody since the summer before his sophomore year. Moody met Pat Narduzzi while attending camp at Pitt, and remains in touch with multiple other coaches. When asked about his feelings towards Pitt and how the university compares to Temple, Emil referenced the similar atmospheres that the universities share.

“I just like the way they did things up there. They both felt like family. It felt like a family up there—like I could fit in on both teams. Now I’m just trying to figure out what I’m going to do.”

Moody plays defensive end and tight end for Neumann-Goretti High School. While Coach Sims is a defensive line coach, Emil remains unclear on his potential position at Pitt. That fact does not bother this athlete, though.

“It really doesn’t matter to me. Wherever I can help the team the best; at tight end, defensive end, wide receiver—it really doesn’t matter. Wherever I fit best to help the team.”

Regardless of where he lines up, Moody is confident in both his ability as a football player, and the work ethic he possesses to improve at the next level.

“Pitt will be getting a 6’5” 220 [pound] focused, dedicated Philly bred future superstar. I put a lot of hard work in to get to this point but the work is never finished. I give everything I got on the field every play! A leader and someone willing to do whatever to win.”

For confirmation, I asked Emil if Pitt has extended an offer yet.

“Not yet, but [Coach Sims] said it should be coming soon,” he replied.

Emil expects Pitt to offer him in the near future. If they do offer, does Pitt hold a chance at getting him to flip his commitment?

“Yes they do. A big chance.”

To finish our conversation, I asked if there was one thing Emil would like to discuss with Coach Sims.

“Basically just when the offer is coming in,” he answered. “I mean, we’ve pretty much talked about everything. I just want to know when the offer is really coming in.”

Emil agreed to update Pittsburgh Sports Now after his visit with Coach Sims on Thursday. Stay tuned to see his reaction following their meeting, and if that much anticipated offer from the Panthers comes.
