Blacksburg, Virginia is home to one of Pitt’s biggest rivals in the ACC.

It’s also the home of a running back that over the weekend received an offer from the Panthers.

Coleton Beck (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) is a 2018 running back that received the news from Pitt assistant Kevin Sherman.

“I’d say about two months ago I started getting some contact from them, text messages and Twitter messages, stuff like that. I started getting a good vibe from them. Then two days ago I was notified about the offer from Coach Sherman,” said Beck.

“Coach Sherman said that the staff likes my speed (last summer ran a 4.38 in the 40 and 100 meter time is 10.58) and my versatility. I’m a back that has speed, can catch the ball and coaches can also move me out to the slot.”

“Honestly, I was really excited about the offer, pretty pumped about it. I have a lot of family in that area (aunt lives in Morgantown) and have been there a lot. It’s a great place and very excited about the offer.”

Beck tells me that his entire family are fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This offer from Pitt is Beck’s second ACC offer, the other coming from Boston College. The talented back also holds offers from Bowling Green, East Carolina, Marshall, Temple and Western Michigan.

“I’m going to just wait a bit and see who becomes interested in me. The teams that show a lot of interest in me this summer I’ll go visit them. I’m not sure when I’m going to make my final decision but I’m not in a rush to do that now. As of now, I haven’t made any summer trips because I’m still involved in track so I’m kind of focused on that right now.

I have three more weeks of track and then I’m done. After that I’ll plan out all of my trips for this summer,” said Beck.

In case you’re wondering, Beck tells me that hometown Virginia Tech is showing a bit of interest but haven’t come through with an offer yet.

Beck is the twelve 2018 running back that’s received an offer from the Panthers. Four of those twelve backs have already given a verbal commitment to a school.
