The Pitt women’s basketball team unveiled its non-conference schedule for the 2018-19 season on Wednesday.

New head coach Lance White will get right into the swing of things with what is shaping up to be a challenging non-conference slate.

The Panthers have three local foes, as they host West Virginia on Dec. 8. St. Francis on Dec. 21 and make the trek down Fifth Avenue to play Duquesne at the A.J. Palumbo Center on Dec. 21.

“Our team has had a busy summer and we are excited about our non-conference schedule”, White said in a press release. “Playing a tough non-conference schedule is how you get prepared for ACC play, and I think this schedule reflects that. I’m also eager and excited for the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia and the City Game against Duquesne.”

The other highlights of the schedule include a school day game for a home opener against UCF on Nov. 7, Cincinnati on Nov. 16, a trip to Georgetown on Nov. 19, Northwestern on Nov. 29 and three opponents to be named at the Challenge in Music City on Nov. 23-25. Pitt drew over 10,000 for last season’s school day game.

“Our players have told me how exciting the atmosphere is on School Day and I’m looking forward to experiencing it in November,” White said. “Having that kind of crowd at the Petersen Events Center will be such a fun way to kick off our regular season. We are excited to create a true home court advantage for all of our games in The Pete.”
