The Pitt basketball program will be getting a visit soon from one of the fastest rising recruits in the country.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that 2020 4-star point guard RJ Davis (Archbishop Stepinac) will be making an upcoming trip to Pittsburgh.

PSN is told that Davis will be making an unofficial visit to Pitt early in July. The exact dates haven’t been confirmed yet.

Davis also has a few other trips scheduled:

  • Marquette: June 19 (unofficial)
  • Georgetown: June 26-27 (official, which will be his first)
  • UCLA: Sometime in July (unofficial)

PSN caught up with Patrick Massaroni, Stepinac Head Basketball Coach, to ask about the national attention that Davis has received. He currently holds offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Georgetown, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Marquette, Northwestern, UCLA and Vanderbilt.

“RJ has flown under the radar on the national stage over the last couple years. Everything he has accomplished from April until now is what we all see everyday at Stepinac and now the entire nation is seeing his high level abilities,” said Massaroni. “RJ is a proven winner on the floor knowing when to get others involved and when to attack and score the ball. RJ is efficient and shoots the ball at a really high level.”

”He has been a man on a mission this spring and summer heading into his senior year. RJ has untapped potential and will have a long professional career playing basketball.”

Davis is scoring in the classroom as well as on the court. He boasts a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.
