Bob Palko Ready for New Challenge at Mt. Lebanon

MT. LEBANON, Pa. — For the second straight season, Mt. Lebanon will face a tough non-conference test in WPIAL’s Week Zero, as the Blue Devils will once again face a talented Gateway Gators squad.

In 2018, Gateway ravaged Mt. Lebanon in Week Zero, 31-8 and seemed to be on its way to undefeated season and back-to-back WPIAL titles before being upset by West Allegheny in the WPIAL semifinals.

This offseason, West Allegheny coach Bob Palko left the Indians after 24 seasons and joined Mt. Lebanon. Now, he’ll try to lead the Blue Devils to another upset, while facing one of the toughest teams in WPIAL Class-5A.

Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Palko during training camp about the transition and his outlook for the 2019 Blue Devils.

As a West Allegheny grad this makes me sick to my stomach.
