PITTSBURGH — Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi on Thursday said that Kenny Pickett will start at quarterback this Saturday against Duke.
Pickett suffered a shoulder injury during Pitt’s Week 4 victory over UCF. He returned to that game and caught the game-winning touchdown pass on a trick play, but was held out last Saturday against Delaware.
Pickett returned to practice on Tuesday and Narduzzi said that he had a full week of practice with the first team.
“I think he’s 100%,” Narduzzi said. “He looks great. … You saw him on Tuesday and then it was even more on Wednesday and Thursday.”
In his second full season as Pitt’s starter, Pickett is 107 of 176 for 1,102 yards, three touchdown and two interceptions.
Redshirt freshman Nick Patti replaced Pickett briefly against UCF and then for the entire game against Delaware. Patti is 25 of 40 for 287 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Good to hear Kenny will be ready Saturday. Thanks to Nick for his play while the injury was healing.
I hope we’ll have the other injured players back for the game. We’ll need to play our best to beat Duke.
