2020 Guard Femi Odukale Talks Pitt Official Visit

It kind of went under the radar a bit, but the Pitt basketball program hosted a player that they very much want to add to their Class of 2020.

2020 3-star point guard Femi Odukale from Springfield Commonwealth (Massachusetts) made his official visit this weekend.

Odukale (6’5”, 180) only received the Pitt offer in the last month but decided quickly to travel to Pittsburgh to determine if Jeff Capel’s program could be a fit.

This weekend’s trip was Odukale’s third official visit with the other ones at Massachusetts and St. Bonaventure. In the near future, Odukale plans on visiting Seton Hall.

This was a busy 48 hours for Odukale as he arrived back in Massachusetts after 2 a.m. and then had a game this afternoon. Following his game, PSN caught up briefly with him to get his thoughts on his visit to Pitt.

“Well this is my second time being in Pittsburgh so I was kinda familiar with the area,” said Odukale. “Something that stood out to me is everybody in Pittsburgh are very friendly and nice. Also, the team is really family and they basically do everything with each other.”

Aside from this, I asked Odukale the thing right now that really stands out and that he likes most about Pitt.

“The atmosphere, it feels like I am back home in New York. With all the choices of food and variety of people.”

Although he’s been to Pittsburgh before, this was his first extended face to face conversation with Jeff Capel and the first chance to see him coaching on the sidelines in person.

“My thoughts on Coach Capel are that he is a very competitive person and that he wants to help his players win on the court and also off the court,” said Odukale.

Odukale left Pittsburgh without making a decision but has a timeline for when he will.

“They just told me they would love for me to commit there but they respect my decision to wait.  My next visit is Seton hall on March 3-4. I’ll probably make a decision after March Madness.”
