Update: Decision To Wear During Play Revised For Pitt/Virginia Tech

Published

on

Following the state of Pennsylvania’s mandate on expanded mask wearing, which includes all elementary and high school athletes even when competing, Pitt plans on doing the same.

The University of Pittsburgh athletic department issued a statement saying that members of both Pitt and Virginia Tech will be wearing masks during tomorrow’s game.

“In alignment with the recent guidance from state officials regarding the current health climate, Pitt’s football team will be appropriately outfitted for Saturday’s game with face coverings to use on the field and sideline. This is being communicated to Virginia Tech’s sports medicine staff as well.”

Prior to this, just members of Pitt’s coaching staff and athletes not participating on the field wore masks during the game but with the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, this is now being extended to the playing field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers say that they are exempt from the mask requirement during play.

The administration at the University is cowardly.” Kneel down you are a Government bitch” Tom Wolf says as his blonde haired wig sidekick chuckles evilly. The oxygen levels of these kids exerting themselves will be at dangerously low levels during that game. Va Tech should ignore the rule while the Pitt players get light headed and sick. Where is the common sense here? Where is the back bone to tell Wolf to F@#$ off? His mandates are unconstitutional, illegal and immoral. Curious on Wednesday night if the basketball team will wear mask….Can you imagine playing full court hoops with a… Read more »

How can any one affiliated with that school say they care about these players? You can not play sports with masks on!!! The administration cares more about bowing to these political tyrants then the “REAL” safety of their players.

This is inexcusable.

Wearing masks while playing sports creates so many more dangers than it eliminates. How can people be so stupid? This makes me irate Rrrrrrrrrrrr

Pitt needs masks, but PSU and the Steelers will not subject their players to that health land mine. Common sense approach used by PSU and the Steelers. The Pitt athletic department has a responsibility to protect their players. Going along with this insidious mandate made by the unqualified Pa Health secretary makes no sense and endangers the players even more than the very suspect Covid 19 virus.

I wonder if any of the players will tell Narduzzi “no”. As an individual this your own health you need to take care of. Wearing a mask to play sports in is detrimental to you. Why would Levine suggest that? Why would Pitt officials listen to that individual?
