Pitt Expected To Add Northern Illinois to 2020 Non-Conference Schedule

Published

on

Following Pitt’s won over Drexel, Jeff Capel mentioned in his postgame press conference that they were close to adding a fifth non-conference opponent and that appears to be the case.

Bob Greenburg from Sports Radio 967 in Mercer County is reporting that Pitt is close to finalizing a deal to play Northern Illinois. The game would take place this Saturday at The Pete with a tip-off at 7 PM.

The deal is expected to be finalized and announced later today.

Northern Illinois is 0-1 this season following a 65-61 loss to Illinois-Chicago, a game in which they blew a 22-point 2nd lead.

Northern Illinois is next in action on Wednesday against SIU-Edwardsville. This game is possible because their matchup against DePaul was postponed.

Pitt was looking to add another game since their next scheduled game wasn’t until next Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Northwestern.
