4-Star Guard Judah Mintz Decommits from Pitt

Published

on

According to four-star guard Judah Mintz, he has de-committed from Pitt.

Mintz committed to Pitt back in mid-June, after taking an official visit to the Panthers in earlier in the month. Now, months later, after Pitt failed to land commitments from any other players in the class of 2022, lost two key players for this season, and started off the season with a loss to The Citadel, Mintz has decided to take his talents elsewhere.

The Washington D.C. native was set to become the highest-rated player to commit to a Jeff Capel-led Panthers team, as he is ranked No. 43 in the nation according to the ESPN100. Mintz plays his high school ball for the prestigious basketball program Oak Hill, in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.

The DMV product also took official visits to Georgetown and Penn State prior to his commitment to Pitt, and was also being recruited by Maryland, George Mason, LSU, Virginia Tech, and more.

Mintz becomes the second highly-ranked player to de-commit from Pitt in the last two years, after four-star Jalen Hood-Schifino de-committed last year.

In the 2021 and 2022 classes, Jeff Capel has landed a total of one commitment. That was Nate Santos, who is now playing for the Panthers as a freshman.

I have been able to remain optimistic about this program for the last few years, but I hate to say this might be the nail in the coffin.

Don’t worry Capel has all those connections from Duke and the Carolina area so he’ll bring talent to Pitt! The only thing he’s accomplished so far is that he got Jay-Z to sit in the front row at the Pete and I’m not really joking.

Ha, ha, ha just more smoke and mirrors from the master of the art. Pitt should dump Capel (and his highly paid brother) and ring in Sean Miller now which is what everyone wants. At least Miller will play Duquesne on his way to another crooked program.

Think it’s bad now, wait until Hugley announces he’s leaving. . . you know that’s coming.

It seems the door is surely opened for Hugley to look for transfer

Big loss but in all fairness, this could be more about Mintz getting some love from bluebloods versus something Capel and/or Pitt did or didn’t do. This has happened before to us and it will happen again. H2P !

Capel and Heather not the fans are responsible for this BB mess. That is what they are paid to do. Stop being a homer be more object!

Man, I like Capel as a person but what I saw against Citadel and now this, Something has to change, this roster would be great for (no disrespect to) Robert Morris. This is ACC Basketball if you don’t recruit you don’t win. I have supported Coach from the beginning but the writing is on the wall. Then again Pitt might want to find a different conference they do not belong with the Big Boys.
