Pitt Offers Memphis Commitment 2023 OL BJ Williams; Sets Official Visit

The Pitt Panthers have added a late official visitor for this coming weekend.

On Wednesday, Pitt extended an offer to 2023 3-star offensive lineman BJ Williams (6’4″, 260-pounds) from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia. The interesting angle to this is just three days ago, Williams made a verbal commitment to Memphis.

Tonight, Pittsburgh Sports now spoke with Williams about the offer and learned that he’s decided to travel to Pittsburgh this weekend for an official visit.

“The offer happened after I finished up lifting weights with my team for our summer workouts,” said Williams. “Coach Collins called me and offered me today. He told me that they’re really interested in me and really liked my film.”

“Like any offer I’ve received, I’m very grateful for it and I’m happy that they took the time and decided to offer me. I’m still 100% committed to Memphis but this is my last shot to recruiting process so I should make it count. They asked me to come make an official visit and I’m going to do it. Getting the offer is a good thing for me. Like I said, I’m still 100% committed to Memphis but I’m going to be a senior this year, so I want to enjoy my recruiting process because sooner or later it’s going to be gone.”

This will be Williams first visit every to Pittsburgh. In terms of what he knows about it, he tells me that he knows they have nice facilities and that the campus and city of Pittsburgh is very nice.

Williams tells me that Memphis recruited him as an offensive lineman, with the ability to play anywhere on the line. He describes himself as “good in space and strong in the interior and exterior of the line.”

Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia is the same high school that current Pitt sophomore 4-star defensive back Rashad Battle attended.
