Reports: Kedon Slovis Not Seriously Injured At Practice Saturday

Published

on

Despite reports that Kedon Slovis suffered a major injury during practice Saturday, it appears that rumors of his injury were greatly exaggerated.

Both PantherLair’s Chris Peak and 93.7 the Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi reported that Slovis did not suffer a major injury at practice, after rumors of Slovis being carted off the field surfaced on social media.

With the Backyard Brawl just under a month away, the rumors sent fans into a frenzy on social media, but it appears that Pitt is just taking extra training camp precautions.

In three seasons at USC, Slovis threw for 7,576 yards and 58 touchdowns to just 24 interceptions on 652-of-953 passing attempts. As a true freshman for the Trojans, he broke out with a campaign of 3,502 yards and 30 touchdowns after taking over for the injured J.T. Daniels.

Despite up-and-down 2020 and 2021 seasons, still being named as a first-team All-Pac-12 quarterback in 2020, Slovis entered the transfer portal after the 2021 season.

With a transfer to Pitt a week later, Slovis has been competing and training in Pittsburgh since January. While he’s locked in a quarterback competition with Nick Patti, Slovis is likely to enter Week 1 against West Virginia as the starter.

Karl, why are all of your people insisting Slovis will be the starter. Have you guys watched Patti play?

Backyard brawl, backyard brawl, that’s all you narrow minded sports writers can think about.
