Pitt to Take Foreign Tour to Spain, Canary Islands in Early August

Pitt basketball will take a foreign tour this summer to Spain and the Canary Islands, a source told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

The Panthers will be heading overseas in early August. More information should be announced by the program within the next couple of weeks.

Pitt’s Guillermo and Jorge Diaz-Graham are both from the Canary Islands, and are currently back home for some time following the season. They now have the opportunity to come back in early August to show their teammates around their home country.

Pitt took a 10-day trip to Italy in 2019, in which the group visited Rome, Florence, Venice, and Bologna. The Panthers have not taken a foreign trip as a team since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Another interesting note regarding foreign tours is that they enable international players to make money through Name, Image, and Likeness in some cases.

Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe reportedly made $500,000 in one week in the Bahamas on the Wildcats’ foreign tour last year, spending his trip appearing in commercials, signing autographs, and more. Pitt’s Diaz-Graham twins and Federiko Federiko are all international prospects, with Federiko coming to the Panthers from Finland.
