For the second time in a week, Pitt lost out on a highly rated recruit that at one point appeared to be leaning towards them.
2024 4-star defensive end Dominic Kirks announced on Friday afternoon that he was committing to Washington. The native of Cleveland Ohio was also seriously considering Pitt and Wisconsin.

After announcing his commitment to the Huskies, Kirks had this to say to 247Sports Recruiting Insider Allen Trieu.
“My mother, Coach Deboer, and Coach Schmidt made me feel good about my decision. Shout out Coach Morgan too,” Kirks said. “My mother loved everything about Seattle, It reminded me of where I’m from — Cleveland, Ohio — and the coaches made it feel like I was right at home as soon as I stepped foot in there.”
“The genuineness from the coaches all the way down to the players was unmatched,” he added, “and they want to pour into you and develop you just as much as I want to be the best I can be on and off the field, and I think that they can do that. The fans shows so much love, and it’s so much out there that I can get into to build my personal brand and name for myself. It’s a lot more I can go on and on all day.”
Kirks was one of four 4-star defensive ends that Pitt was trying to land with the others being Sincere Edwards, Mylachi Williams and Elias Rudolph.
