Another top prospect in Pittsburgh high school basketball scene has left the city, as Alier Maluk, a 6-foot-8 forward who starred for WPIAL 1A Imani Christian, announced that he will attend Long Island Lutheran (NY) for his upcoming junior year.

Rivals and 247 Sports both rank Maluk as a four-star, and 247sports listed him as the No. 45 prospect in the Class of 2025. He was once ranked as highly as No. 21 according to 247. He holds offers from a number of high-major Division I programs, including Pitt. Maryland, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Washington, and Penn State have all offered him since May.

As a sophomore for Imani Christian Academy in the 2022-23 season, Maluk averaged 15.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. His great play helped Imani win the WPIAL 1A Title and the PIAA 1A Title as well.

Maluk now joins Long Island Lutheran — a loaded team that plays a national schedule every year in the NIBC. LuHi has several highly-ranked players on its roster already, including VJ Edgecomb, Kiyan Anthony (son of Carmelo), and others.

Alier Maluk is the second highly-touted prospect to leave Imani Christian this month, as Dame Givner left for Putnam Science Academy. In addition, former North Hills standout Royce Parham also left to play for Western Reserve Academy.
