Recapping NFL Cutdown Day For Ex-Pitt and WPIAL Playewrs

Published

on

NFL teams had to get their rosters down to 53 players on Tuesday, which meant that after months of work, many players saw their dreams of playing in the NFL this season come to an end (for now).

Unfortunately, some former Pitt and WPIAL players were included in that group that were put on waivers.

Keep in mind though that some of these players will be brought back to either the team that released them or another NFL team and become members of their practice squads.

And although it’s not the 53-man roster, they are a part of an NFL organization and will have the opportunity to impress and get promoted to the main roster.

Here are the players with Pitt and WPIAL ties that were released on Tuesday:

-NY Giants have released OLB Habakkuk Baldonado.
-Chicago Bears have waived/injured OL Gabe Houy.
-Jacksonville Jaguars have cut RB Qadree Ollison.
-Miami Dolphins have cut DT Jaylen Twyman.
-Washington Commanders release OT Jaryd Jones-Smith.
-NY Jets cut DE Deslin Alexandre.
-New Orleans Saints release TE JP Holtz.
-New Orleans Saints release TE Lucas Krull.
-New Orleans Saints release TE Jesse James.
-Jacksonville Jaguars release TE Erick Hallett.
-Houston Texans release S Brandon Hill.
-Chicago Bears release TE Nick Bowers.
-Chicago Bears release OT Josh Lugg.
-Houston Texans release C Jimmy Morrissey.
-Chicago Bears release QB Nathan Peterman.
-Houston Texans release DE Chase Winovich.
-Houston Texans release WR Jared Wayne.
-Denver Broncos release QB Ben Dinucci.
