Pitt WR Coach Tiquan Underwood

PITTSBURGH — Pitt football is 2-7 to start 2023, their worst start since they had the same record back in 1998.

Wide receivers and passing coordinator Tiquan Underwood and linebackers coach spoke to members of the media on Tuesday at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the tough season and their preparation for Syracuse at Yankee Stadium this weekend.

Underwood spoke on the improvements of redshirt sophomore quarterback Christian Veilleux. He also talked about growing up as a Yankees fan, what this game means to him and whether or not the four true freshmen wide receivers in Kenny Johnson, Zion Fowler-El, Lamar Seymore and Israel Polk will receive more snaps to end this season.

Manalac talked in great length about his three true freshmen in Braylan Lovelace, Rasheem Biles and Jordan Bass, who have all burned their redshirt. He spoke about their development, as well as the leadership they’ve received from redshirt seniors in Shayne Simon and Brandon George.
